Get Involved in a Committee
Get involved in the Rosewood Community by volunteering to serve on a committee.
- Communication Committee. Coordinates and produces all RCC fliers, promotional materials, press releases, web sites, contact lists, and member resources.
- Parks Committee. Coordinates community input for all beautification, safety, and preservation projects for area parks and greenspaces (Rosewood, Tyler, Valencia, Bates, and Owens). Serves as primary contact for City of Columbia Parks & Recreation Department.
- Fundraising & Special Events Committee. Coordinates all RCC special events such as July 4th activities, National Nigh Out, and Celebrate Freedom Festival participation. Establishes and maintains appropriate relations with area businesses and merchants. Seeks grant opportunities as well as sponsorships as deemed appropriate by the Executive Committee. The RCC Treasurer will serve as a co-chair for this committee.
- Community Partnership Committee. Requests all meeting agendas from local government and brings priority issues to the attention of the RCC. Coordinates volunteer members to attend necessary meetings, including those regularly held by City Council, County Council, Zoning, Development, DOT, DHEC, etc. Develops recommendations on how RCC may best represent community interests and concerns to these groups.
- Development Task Force. The Development Task Force works with developers and contractors to maintain the physical character of the neighborhood. We also work with city staff in developing Planned Unit Developments, often seeking a compromise between neighbors’ concerns and developers plans. The Task Force welcomes new members as well as residents throughout the Rosewood area who will serve as “eyes and ears” to alert neighborhood leaders of planned construction projects or developments that do not require rezoning or city council approvals but that may alter the character of the surrounding area.
- Technology Committee. Coordinates online initiatives.
